With a narrow two-year window to raise a minimum of $30 million in private funds, the LSST Corporation needed to connect quickly and effectively with a handful of potential, large-scale donors. Their ultimate goal? To build the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope in Chile – a revolutionary new concept for astronomy that has the potential to forever change the way mankind views the universe. Working closely with LSST founders, project scientists and education/outreach personnel, Godat Design developed a comprehensive yet compact promotional tool, designed to increase visibility of the telescope project to public audiences, professional astronomers, and federal agencies; and to communicate the benefits of LSST to society. LSST met its fundraising targets within the first few months of its efforts, building key alliances with key corporate and foundation donors.
